Brokenness: Emotional, Physical, and Mental Exhaustion?

What do you do when you are emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausted?
My family goes on vacation with 200 of our closest friends!
What? A vacation with 200 people? Yep!
That sounds exhausting! It is. So WHY do we go?
I rely on the wisdom of the Preacher in Ecclesiastes 3.
“There is a time to heal, a time to laugh, and a time to be built up.”
This has been a very challenging year for our family. There were losses that really hurt. Disappointments that left us drained. We REALLY needed to heal, to laugh, and be built up.
There are friends at this camp who have been in the trenches with us. We consider some of them our 3:00 A.M. friends. They know firsthand about the challenges we have been going through.
And so we look forward to this ONE week out of the year. It’s non-negotiable! If at all possible, we WILL be there. So far, we have been able to attend every year since we first started, 14 years ago. But sadly, the week goes by way too fast.
I’m reminded of the quote by A. A. Milne. In fact, it’s on one of the t-shirts and mugs I designed for camp.
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
